The changes, announced in parliament on 8 September, affect millions of elderly citizens, widows, deserted women, persons with disabilities, and students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The most immediate impact will be felt by older citizens and widows or deserted women, whose monthly stipend rises from Tk650 to Tk700.
