NRBC Bank launches month-long entrepreneurship training in Kishoreganj
NRBC Bank Begins Entrepreneurship Development Course in Kishoreganj
Bdbusinessdaily.com – Twenty-six prospective business owners in Kishoreganj have begun a month-long entrepreneurship development course designed to build practical capabilities for launching, managing and expanding small enterprises. NRBC Bank PLC opened the programme on Thursday, 17 September 2026, at a hotel in the district.
The initiative focuses on helping entrepreneurs at the grassroots level convert business ideas into workable and sustainable ventures. Its curriculum covers business operations, management techniques, financial planning, marketing, market management, expansion strategies and innovation.
Training linked to national competitiveness programme
The course is being delivered through the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program, known as SICIP. The programme is a Finance Division project under the Ministry of Finance and receives funding from the Asian Development Bank. Bangladesh Bank’s SME and Special Programmes Department is overseeing the entrepreneurship training initiative.
Such training can be particularly significant for new entrepreneurs because successful business development requires more than an idea or access to capital. Participants are expected to gain a clearer understanding of planning, day-to-day administration, financial decision-making and approaches to reaching customers. These areas can help business owners assess opportunities, organise resources and make informed choices as their enterprises develop.
NRBC Bank Managing Director and CEO Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan, FCMA, inaugurated the programme as chief guest. Bangladesh Bank Additional Director and Project Director for the training programme Md Masum Billah joined the event as guest of honour.
Other guests included NRBC Bank Deputy Managing Director and Chief Business Officer Md Shaheen Howlader; Bangladesh Bank Joint Director Ayub Ali; Bangladesh Bank Deputy Director Mohammad Wasim; and NRBC Bank Head of MSME Division Md Ramjan Ali Bhuiyan. NRBC Bank Head of Sylhet Zone Md Ariful Rahman chaired the inaugural programme.
Preparing entrepreneurs for business decisions
For the participants, the month-long programme is intended to provide hands-on knowledge that can be applied to real business plans. Financial planning may help entrepreneurs understand the costs and resources involved in operating an enterprise, while marketing and market-management sessions can support more deliberate decisions about customers, products and growth opportunities.
Innovation is also included as part of the training, reflecting the need for entrepreneurs to adapt their business ideas and operations as market conditions change. The overall aim is to equip participants with skills that can support both the initial establishment of a business and its longer-term management.
This programme has created an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to gain the knowledge, training and financial support necessary to turn their business ideas into sustainable ventures. Through this month-long training, participants in Kishoreganj will acquire practical knowledge on business planning, financial management, marketing strategies and innovative entrepreneurship.
Dr Md Touhidul Alam Khan highlighted the value of combining knowledge, training and financial support for aspiring entrepreneurs. The programme places particular emphasis on practical learning, which may enable participants to better prepare for the operational and commercial demands of running a business.
Employment and access to finance
Md Masum Billah said the development of capable and innovative entrepreneurs is important to Bangladesh’s wider economic progress. He noted that the government has set a goal of generating one crore employment opportunities and said entrepreneurship training programmes are being implemented by Bangladesh Bank in support of that objective.
The government has set a target of creating one crore employment opportunities. To contribute to this goal, Bangladesh Bank is implementing entrepreneurship development training programmes.
Entrepreneurship development can contribute to local employment by supporting individuals who seek to establish or enlarge business activity in their own districts. When business owners develop stronger skills in planning, financial management and marketing, they may be better positioned to create and maintain commercial activity within local communities.
The training programme also provides a route toward financing after the course has been completed. This is relevant because access to suitable funding can be a major consideration for entrepreneurs moving from a plan to implementation, or seeking to scale an existing business.
Upon completion of the training, trained entrepreneurs will have access to loan facilities through commercial banks to implement and expand their business initiatives.
The availability of loan facilities through commercial banks is intended to help trained entrepreneurs pursue their proposed ventures and growth plans after completing the programme. Training and financing are therefore positioned as connected elements: participants can build management knowledge during the course and subsequently seek funding for implementation or expansion.
Regular programmes in districts
Bangladesh Bank and NRBC Bank regularly arrange comparable entrepreneurship development courses in different districts. The continuing programmes are intended to assist new entrepreneurs and encourage employment opportunities at the local level.
For Kishoreganj’s 26 participants, the course offers a structured period to work through the essentials of building and growing a business. By bringing together instruction in operations, finance, marketing, market management and innovation, the programme seeks to give aspiring entrepreneurs a practical foundation for making their business initiatives more sustainable.
